Will employers need to amend employees’ contracts to comply with the GDPR?

Businesses will not need to amend their employees contracts of employment to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). They will however, be required to issue a new privacy notice to all current, and future employees. This policy will provide information on the processing of the Employee’s personal data. The GDPR specifies that the information required to be given to an employee includes the purposes for which the employer will process the employee’s personal data, the legal bases for the processing, information about the retention period and information about the employee’s rights as a data subject.
